San Diego Airbnb Data Visualizations | Ester Tsai
This line plot shows the number of new San Diego Airbnb listings over the years. Since Airbnb was founded in 2008, the first few listings were in 2008. We can see the number of listings skyrocket over the years as Airbnb became more popular. Interestingly enough, the number of new listings took a dip in mid 2019 but continued to go up through the first few years of Covid, despite the lull in traveling.
This box plot provides some insight into the different price distributions of the most popular Airbnb property types. We can see that an entire home has a median price of around $300 per night, while a private room has a median price of around $100 per night.
This heatmap shows the relationship between rating, number of guests a listing can accommodate, and the price per night. As the number of guests increase, generally so does the price. Higher prices tend to have lower ratings, which makes sense, as higher prices can lead to higher expectations and lower satisfactions.
Thank you for viewing and interacting with my visualizations!
Hope this dashboard allowed you to learn something new about the San Diego Airbnbs. Maybe you found out that the average rating in the Allied Gardens neighborhood is unsually low. Maybe you didn't know that San Diego had very few new listings every year until 2015. Or maybe you learned for the first time that Airbnb has so much data available to the public! In any case, hope you enjoyed these visualizations!
